Meikayla Moore

Meikayla Moore is a centre back from New Zealand who has been a key member of New Zealand’s National Team since 2013. A three-time Olympian, she has represented New Zealand at the 2024, 2020 and 2016 Games.

Meikayla began playing soccer when she was just four years old. Her mom and dad enrolled her in a local club team and the rest was history. She has a number of favourite soccer memories including the first time she was given the privilege to wear a Ferns shirt at the U17 level, the day she made her senior team debut in 2013, and taking the field and making her Olympic debut in Rio 2016.

She has played for many notifiable clubs over the course of her career including FC Köln, MSV Duisburg, Liverpool FC, Glasgow City FC. Meikayla has achieved significant milestones throughout her journey that includes winning the Women’s Championship Trophy in England, promotion of Women’s Super League, and becoming Scottish Women’s Premier League champions in 2023.

Did You Know… Meikayla’s role model is her mom who has consistently showed her love and kindness. She admires her mothers work ethic and her constant selflessness…Meikayla is also greatly inspired by Megan Rapinoe and her wife Sue Bird. She says they are both incredible athletes on and off the field/court in both their respective codes, especially the work and representation they have given the LGBTQ+ community….outside of soccer, Meikayla is very passionate about LGBTQ+ community visibility and rights, women empowerment and equality, along with uplifting and inspiring younger generations to be active.

On off days Moore enjoys going for walks and grabbing coffee, preferably from independent coffee shops, and spending time with her partner. She also enjoys thrifting, unplugging and reading a good book.
