League leaders AFC Toronto overcame an early deficit to defeat Calgary Wild FC 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at McMahon Stadium. Goals from Kaylee Hunter and Emma Regan turned the tide after Meikayla Moore’s opener for the hosts, keeping Toronto atop the NSL standings.
Calgary made the perfect start, breaking through in the 8th minute when Moore rose above her marker to head home a well-delivered corner, giving the Wild an early 1-0 advantage.
Toronto’s response was swift. Just four minutes later, Hunter finished off a flowing attacking move, slotting past the Calgary keeper to bring the match level at 1-1. The visitors then struck again in the 18th minute, with Regan finding space on the edge of the box and firing a precise shot into the corner to give Toronto the lead.
Calgary Controls Play but Toronto Holds Firm
Despite trailing, Calgary dictated much of the match, maintaining 55% possession and creating several dangerous moments in the second half. The Wild outshot Toronto 14-9 and pressed for an equalizer, but the visitors’ disciplined defensive shape limited clear scoring opportunities.
Toronto absorbed the pressure and looked dangerous on the counter, with goalkeeper Sofia Manner making several key stops to preserve the lead.
