The second weekend of Northern Super League action brought emphatic road wins, long-awaited home debuts, and landmark moments as Canada’s six clubs continued carving out their identities on the national stage. From Halifax to Vancouver, the league’s momentum only grew as thousands of fans witnessed history unfold in real time.

Halifax Tides FC 1 - 4 Calgary Wild FC
April 26 | Wanderers Grounds

Professional women’s soccer officially arrived in Halifax - but it was Calgary Wild who stole the spotlight with a dominant 4-1 performance at a packed Wanderers Grounds.

It took just three minutes for Calgary to open their account, with Meikayla Moore heading home from a corner to score the first goal in club history. The Wild doubled their lead just four minutes later through Meggie Dougherty Howard, who pounced on a defensive turnover and finished from close range.

Kahli Johnson added to the onslaught in the 26th minute with a composed finish to make it 3-0 before the half-hour mark. The Tides responded in the second half, as Marika Guay brought the crowd to life with Halifax’s first-ever goal in the 61st minute. But Calgary's control remained intact, and Johnson struck again in the 82nd to put the game out of reach and seal a milestone win for the Wild.

Despite the loss, the afternoon marked a new era for fans in Nova Scotia, who witnessed their team take the field for the first time - a powerful moment for the city and for women’s sport in Atlantic Canada.

AFC Toronto 1 - 2 Ottawa Rapid FC
April 27 | TD Place

Ottawa Rapid FC claimed their first NSL victory in front of an energetic home crowd, defeating AFC Toronto 2-1 at TD Place thanks to a pair of second-half strikes.

After a goalless first 45 minutes marked by midfield battles and narrow misses, Ottawa broke through in the 55th minute. Lee Min-A etched her name into club history with the Rapid’s inaugural goal - a confident left-footed finish that ignited the stands. The hosts continued to push and were rewarded again in the 82nd minute when veteran midfielder Desiree Scott doubled the lead with a composed strike from just inside the box with her first ever professional goal.

Toronto refused to fold and grabbed a consolation goal deep into stoppage time, as Kaylee Hunter finished from a scramble in the 94th minute. But it wasn’t enough to deny the Rapid their well-earned moment in the spotlight.

Vancouver Rise FC 1 - 3 Montréal Roses
April 27 | Swangard Stadium

A clinical first-half performance powered Montréal Roses FC to a 3-1 road win over Vancouver Rise FC, keeping their perfect start to the season intact.

Montréal struck early and often, with Hailey Whitaker opening the scoring in the 4th minute after a swift attacking move. Alexandria Hess made it 2-0 in the 15th, finishing off a pinpoint through ball, and Latifah Abdu added a third in the 42nd with a curling effort from distance that stunned the home crowd at Swangard Stadium.

Vancouver responded after the break with a well-taken goal from Quinn in the 56th minute, cutting the deficit and giving the Rise a foothold. But the Roses closed ranks and controlled the tempo late, seeing out a composed second half to secure all three points.

With four goals in two games, Montréal have quickly positioned themselves as one of the league’s most potent attacking threats. For Vancouver, the match marked a reality check after their triumphant home opener in Week 1 - but also a clear glimpse of what it will take to compete among the league’s elite.
