Meggie Dougherty Howard

Meggie brings extensive experience to Calgary’s centre midfield position, having played more than 10,000 minutes over the last eight seasons with four teams in the National Women’s Soccer League in the United States, most recently with Angel City FC. Meggie is the complete player. Comfortable with the ball, she is sure to control the midfield with an extremely high passing and completion rate.

Meggie began playing soccer at four years old. She knew playing professional was a realistic possibility once she got to the college level and saw some stability in the NWSL and was ready to play at a higher level.

Did You Know…her mom is her role model whom she always turns to for advice. It is her mom’s selflessness that is a big reason why she has been able to be successful. Her mom is one of her biggest supporters…on her off days she enjoys being outside when the weather is nice. She also enjoys sewing, resting, yoga, and watching a movie or a tv series.
