Vancouver Rise FC extended their unbeaten run to a league-record seven matches with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Montréal Roses FC on Saturday evening at Swangard Stadium. Goals from Holly Ward and Lisa Pechersky, both assisted by Quinn, overturned an early setback and lifted Vancouver into second place in the standings.
The Roses stunned the home crowd almost right off the top of the match. In the 16th minute, Jessika Cowart’s attempted clearance ricocheted off Tanya Boychuk, who reacted quickly to send the deflection past the Vancouver keeper and put Montréal ahead 1-0.
Ward and Pechersky Lead the Response
Vancouver wasted little time finding their reply. Just three minutes later, Quinn’s neat distribution into space reached Holly Ward outside the 18-yard box. Ward struck firmly, leveling the match at 1-1 in the 23rd minute.
The decisive moment came on the stroke of halftime. Quinn once again supplied the service, floating a cross into the box that Pechersky brought down with finesse. With sharp footwork, she carved out space and tucked home the finish in the 45th minute, giving Vancouver a 2-1 advantage they would not relinquish.
Both sides traded chances after the break, but defenses held firm. Despite equal possession, shots, and passing accuracy, neither team could break through, leaving Vancouver’s first-half surge as the difference.
