Despite a flurry of chances and a dominant display from the home side, Vancouver Rise FC and Montréal Roses FC battled to a 0-0 draw at Swangard Stadium on Saturday night in front of a buzzing West Coast crowd.

Vancouver pressed early and often, racking up 14 shots and 57% possession, but couldn’t find the finishing touch against a disciplined Montreal side that extended their unbeaten run to four matches.

All Pressure, No Payoff

Rise FC controlled the rhythm of the match, connecting at a 76% pass accuracy rate and consistently pushing into Montreal’s defensive third.

Noémi Paquin came close to scoring several times, most notably in the 15th minute, but Rise keeper Morgan McAslan stepped up and blocked the Roses from taking the lead. On the other side of the pitch, Roses keeper Anna Karpenko stood tall with seven crucial saves throughout the match to preserve their clean sheet.

Match Stats

  • Possession: Vancouver dominated with 57% of the ball
  • Total Shots: Rise outshot Montreal 14-5
  • Passing Accuracy: Vancouver completed passes at 76%, compared to Montreal’s 69%

Looking Ahead

With the result, Montréal Roses FC move to 5-2-3 and hold 2nd place in the standings heading into the international break. Vancouver Rise FC sits 4th at 3-4-3, looking to convert strong performances into points when league play resumes. Up next, Montreal hosts Halifax, while Vancouver travels to Calgary for a couple of July 12 clashes.
