As the world tuned in to international competition over the last week, several Northern Super League standouts traded their club kits for national colours, and made a statement doing it.
From Cambodia to Canada, NSL players delivered strong performances for their home countries, showcasing the league’s growing influence and the world-class talent taking the pitch each week in Canada.
Emma Regan (AFC Toronto) & Holly Ward (Vancouver Rise FC) - Canada 🇨🇦
Emma Regan and Holly Ward took the field on home soil and south of the border during Canada’s international friendlies this window. In a thrilling 4-1 win over Costa Rica at BMO Field in Toronto, Ward earned a spot in the Starting XI and both Regan and Ward found the back of the net, a proud moment for both players and their NSL clubs.
Against the United States in Washington, D.C., Regan started the match and put in a composed performance, while Ward was brought on late. Despite a 3-0 loss, both players continued to gain valuable experience against elite opposition.
Jackie Sawicki (Calgary Wild FC) & Jessika Cowart (Vancouver Rise FC) - Philippines 🇵🇭
Representing the Philippines in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers, Jackie Sawicki and Jessika Cowart played key roles in the national team’s dominant campaign in Cambodia. Both were named to the Starting XI in back-to-back matches, helping secure wins over Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Sawicki opened the scoring against Saudi Arabia with a clinical finish, contributing to a commanding 3-0 victory. With two wins from three matches, the Philippines sit in strong position heading into their final group game against Hong Kong on July 5.
Kayla Adamek (Ottawa Rapid FC) - Poland 🇵🇱
Adamek made an impact off the bench in Poland’s recent friendly against Ukraine, entering just after halftime and netting a goal in stoppage time to help seal a 4-0 win. Now, the Ottawa Rapid FC forward turns her focus to the UEFA Women’s Euro tournament, where Poland takes on a powerhouse group that includes Germany (July 4), Sweden (July 8) and Denmark (July 12).
With momentum on her side, Adamek will be one to watch as Poland eyes a breakthrough in the group stage.
As the NSL heads deeper into its inaugural season, the global impact of its players is already being felt. With talent from across the world and at home continuing to rise to the occasion, this league is just getting started, and the world is taking notice.
