Halifax Tides FC claimed a 1-0 win over Calgary Wild FC on Monday evening at Wanderers Grounds, riding a 36th-minute strike from Megumi Nakamura to their second home victory of the season. Under unusually sunny skies in Halifax, and with a festive crowd on hand to celebrate Jawslyn’s birthday, the Tides delivered a composed performance to take all three points.

The breakthrough came late in the first half, when Nakamura calmly finished a flowing attacking sequence for her third goal of the season. The goal marked the first time Halifax has led against Calgary and sent the home crowd into celebration mode.

Halifax Holds Firm in Front of Home Fans

While Calgary edged the possession battle (54% to 46%) and completed passes at a slightly higher rate (80% to 78%), Halifax looked the more dangerous side in the final third. The hosts doubled Calgary’s shot total (8 to 4), combining crisp midfield movement with disciplined defending to stifle the Wild’s attacking threats.

Halifax goalkeeper Anika Toth made several key interventions late as Calgary pushed for an equalizer, but the Tides' back line, anchored by Éva Frémaux, Kiley Norkus, Sara Olai, and Annika Leslie remained resolute to secure the clean sheet and their second win at home this season, both earned in back-to-back appearances at Wanderers Grounds.

Match Stats

  • Possession: Calgary held 54% of the ball to Halifax’s 46%, with the visitors dictating play in stretches but unable to turn possession into meaningful chances.
  • Total Shots: Halifax led the shot count 8–4, finding more success in transition and generating consistent pressure in key moments.
  • Passing Accuracy: Calgary completed passes at 80% accuracy to Halifax’s 78%, maintaining a slight technical edge but struggling to break through the Tides’ organized shape.

Looking Ahead

With the result, Halifax Tides FC improve to 2-6-1 on the season, while Calgary Wild FC move to 3-5-2. Both clubs are back in action on Saturday, July 12: Calgary returns home to host Vancouver Rise in a Stampede-themed showdown, and Halifax heads to Quebec to face Montreal Roses FC.
