Forward Kathryn Harvey scored her first NSL goal to lift Calgary Wild FC to a 1-0 victory over Halifax Tides FC on Friday night at McMahon Stadium. Harvey’s second-half header proved the difference in a match that saw Calgary control much of the play but struggle to convert their dominance until the breakthrough arrived.

After a scoreless first half, the Wild found their moment in the 59th minute. Serita Thurton delivered a curling cross into the area, and Harvey timed her run perfectly, rising above the Halifax back line to nod the ball into the net. The finish sent the Calgary supporters into celebration and marked a milestone moment for number 23.

Wild Control the Ball, Tides Push Late
Calgary dictated much of the tempo, holding 57% possession and completing passes at an 80% clip to stretch the Halifax defence. The Wild also outshot their opponents, though Halifax’s nine attempts, several in the closing stages, forced Calgary to stay alert until the final whistle.

For Halifax, it was another night of frustration. Despite periods of bright play, their lack of conversion in front of goal left them empty-handed once more. The loss leaves them with just three wins on the season and searching for consistency.

Match Stats
Possession: Calgary held 57% of the ball, using patient buildup to limit Halifax’s rhythm.
Total Shots: Halifax recorded 9 efforts to Calgary’s 13, showing flashes of danger but without the finishing touch.
Passing Accuracy: Calgary led in precision, connecting on 80% of their passes compared to Halifax’s 71%, reflecting their greater control in midfield.

Looking Ahead
With the result, Calgary improve to 6-8-2 but remain in fifth place as they prepare for a challenging three-game road stretch. Their trip begins on August 23 with a visit to Montréal to take on the Roses. Halifax fall to 3-10-3, still sitting sixth in the table, and will have next week off before returning to action.
