Ottawa Rapid FC continued their strong mid-season form with a 1-0 win over Halifax Tides FC on Thursday night at TD Place, powered by a first-half strike from Olivia Scott. The result lifts Ottawa into third place in the standings, as they continue to push toward a playoff position with their sixth win of the season.
The match started with Ottawa asserting early control, dominating possession and creating consistent pressure in the final third. Halifax, meanwhile, struggled to find rhythm against the Rapid’s high-energy press and compact defensive shape.
After knocking on the door for much of the first half, Ottawa finally broke through in the 42nd minute. A well-worked buildup down the right side saw the ball fall to Olivia Scott, who calmly finished past the Halifax keeper to open the scoring with her second goal of the season.
Relentless Ottawa Earn Clean Sheet at Home
The second half saw more of the same from Ottawa - controlled possession, organized buildup, and a willingness to commit numbers forward. They outshot Halifax 15-5 and held 60% of the ball, keeping the visitors pinned deep for long stretches of play.
Despite the deficit, Halifax showed grit, absorbing pressure and attempting to hit on the counterattack. A few late set-piece opportunities gave the Tides a chance to level the match, but Ottawa’s backline, anchored by the defensive trio of Olivia Scott, Kayla Adamek, and Susanne Haaland shut the door.
